Poland have been dumped out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia following their 2-0 defeat to Colombia at the Kazan Arena on Sunday.
Goals from Yerry Mina, Radamel Falcao and Juan Cuadrado handed Colombia their first win at the tournament.
The Polish team had earlier lost 2-1 to Senegal in their opening group game just as Colombia who also lost 2-1 to Japan.
Poland started out solidly at the back and were aggressive in their play but they cooled off after they failed to sustain the tempo midway through the first half.
Colombia took advantage of their inability to find a cutting-edge, creating chances to score with Curdrado, Falcao and Fernando Quintero all coming close to breaking the deadlock.
Five minutes into the break, Mina gave Colombia the lead, heading in James Rodriguez’s delightful cross past Wojciech Szczesny in goal for Poland.
In the 70th minute, Falcao doubled his side’s lead, latching on to a sublime pass from Quintero to prod home his first goal at the World Cup.
Poland responded to the goal pyshung more men forward and switching to long ball but the were caught out in the 75th minute when James Rodriguez’s long range pass found Curdrado who calmly beat Szczesny.
Poland will face Japan in their final group game while Colombia will battle Senegal. A victory over the Senegalese team will send Colombia to the next round.
